![]() After five years, the Senior Girls Field Hockey team once again made it to the BC AAA Finals last Friday, November 15th, making it their second appearance in provincials in school history. They played finals games throughout the entire day, winning against the West Vancouver Highlanders in quarter finals at 12:30 pm to move on to the Heritage Woods Kodiaks, beating them 3 - 0 in semi finals. At 3 pm, they played the Handsworth Rapids for gold, sadly losing 0 - 2. They were a very tough team to play, scoring once during the first few minutes of the game and once again in the second half. The wet, windy and cold weather definitely didn't help either. It was, as @SDSSSundevils called it on Twitter, a bitter and sweet ending being #2. Then, on Monday, November 18th, the Senior Girls Volleyball team played their Fraser Valley AAAA Final at Langley Events Centre at 8 pm. They defended their title against the Riverside Rapids, winning for the second year in a row 3 - 1. During the first set, the team won 25 - 12 but lost in the second set 23 - 25. The Riverside Rapids managed to score eight unanswered points, making this set a tough one. Following that, the Sundevils came back strong with two wins, both scoring 25 - 11. Cassidy Pearson, in Grade 11, came out with the MVP award and Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara, also in Grade 11, were both named tournament all stars. The team will be going into provincials in Penticton as #1 in the next few weeks. Aamenah Meghjee Photo taken by Mrs. Lingham
