On October 25th there was a strike for climate change in Vancouver's city core outside of the art gallery. On Friday afternoon The 16 year old Greta Thunberg from Sweden spoke to a crowd of thousands at the climate strike. Saying those in power must understand what they are doing to future generations, and that they must work to ensure their children have a safe future. “But they are not doing that,” she told thousands of people attending a climate rally. “As it is now, it feels like they are doing the opposite.” Indigenous leaders and climate activist David Suzuki also spoke and offered his support to the youth suing the federal government. “Greta has pleaded with politicians to listen to the scientists being ignored even as their messages have become more robust and more urgent,” he said.
