Beach House’s fourth album, Bloom, came out on May 15th 2012. Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally are the members, Legrand singing and playing the organ, and Scally playing guitar and the keyboard. The duo’s album is rated #4 on Pitchfork and has 78% on Metacritic. Many critics state that Bloom is the best album from Beach House yet, and it falls perfectly under the category of dream pop. While their songs may not contain a lot of lyrics, the ones that Victoria Legrand sings are very meaningful. Alex Scally’s guitar accompanies Legrand’s singing to make the songs flow. The slide guitar and the organ differ Beach House’s album from others. Its simplicity creates a calm, but mesmerizing album, which tracks Lazuli, Myth and On the Sea demonstrate. Similar bands to Beach House are Grizzly Bear, Wild Nothing and Twin Sister. If you are looking for a calm, but upbeat album, then I would recommend Bloom to you. Tera Meschino
