![]() Gone are the days of confusion between 'the tall one' and 'the short one' as Mr. Johnston (the short one) left our school Thursday, November 21st, 2013 for North Delta Secondary. After spending four years here, coaching the Senior and Grade 8 Boys Basketball team, restarting the Ski Club, not to mention organizing many of our large-scale events around the school, the Delta School District decided to move around some of the vice principals, sadly including Mr. Johnston. Of course, South Delta Secondary School couldn't let Mr. Johnston leave without saying goodbye. After being advertised on different clubs' Facebook and Twitter accounts, groups of students gathered at 11:40 am in the West gym to prepare for a flashmob happening at 11:50 am. The students marched out of the gym towards the office to Katy Perry's Roar with large posters in hand, meeting Mr. Johnston around the Counselor's office. One by one, many Senior students presented Mr. Johnston with their handmade posters, saying goodbye for the last time. Though there was no dancing involved, almost the entire school came out to bid their farewells. But, as Dr. Seuss once said, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." We will miss you, Mr. Johnston! Aamenah Meghjee Photo by Kathinka Gundermann
