![]() This year, SDSS's Student Council decided to mix up a traditional event (candy grams) with a new mission - collecting food items for Delta Assist. Delta Assist is a local organization who approached us with the opportunity to participate in their annual 'Christmas Helper Hampers' program, allowing us to help our local low income families and seniors to have hearty Christmas meals this year. Right away, we prepared the red and green slips for students to scribble their confessions and greetings on, and encouraged students to bring in a non-perishable food item rather than the usual dollar - whatever money we earned we used towards buying items that they're in need of the most (hot chocolate, tinned meats, rice, pasta sauce, etc). Despite having short notice on our participation in this food drive, we managed to collect a box of donations from the students of SDSS and a shopping cart full as well. Help out your community this holiday season, whether it's through a group like Delta Assist or something of your own. And remember, it's the season of giving. ❤️ Bea Bridge
