Today marked the last day of Link Leadership's Anti-Bullying week events. Beginning the day were heart-shaped sticky notes on lockers with unique compliments, getting students in the theme of kindness. Then, at lunch, Link Leadership students held a mini carnival including cotton candy (free to those who wore pink and $0.50 to those who didn't), balloon pop with balloons with hurtful words written on them, and a couple of pledges including a vine to pledging to prevent bullying and a poster asking What Does Bullying Mean to You?. The DOVE (Delta Opposes Violence Everywhere) also came out, with their annual draw as well as Constable Atkinson, the school liaison from the Delta Police Department, decked out in pink. Throughout the day, a video depicting bullying, directed by Mohammad Younesi, played on the hallway monitors as well. It featured two bullied students, Dorothy Hodgins and Lasse BC, who, after finding comfort in each other, finally had students stand up for them, stop the bullies and call for help from Mme. Olsen and Mr. Bundhoo. With multiple students wearing pink for Pink Shirt Day, they were great initiatives, with lots of participation, to raise awareness for bullying!
