![]() This year the Arts Club Theatre Company has brought Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical to the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage until January 5th! The musical differs from Disney's movie adaptation, and follows the plot of the stories written by P.L. Travers more accurately. From the first second of the show I was in awe. The roles of Bert and Mary Poppins were captured perfectly by the actors Scott Walters and Sara-Jeanne Hosie - so perfectly that I found myself forgetting that there was any other world than the one that they were playing on stage. And of course, there were the songs we all know and love - Chim Chim Cher-ee, A Spoonful of Sugar, Jolly Holiday and the infamous Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - which was just that - supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! (That word never gets old!) With many extravagant dances, heart-wrenching and heart-warming scenes, this musical is a Must-See! In his write-up in the program, the show's director Bill Millerd quoted the Czech-Republic's first President, who said: "In today's dehumanizing technological civilization, theatre is one of the most important islands of human authenticity."
