![]() For many people around Tsawwassen, the new school year can be seen with a sense of renewal, hoping to start the year off fresh. However, the night before the first day of school is known as 'Hell Night' where the graduates of the corresponding school year take to the streets, traditionally causing hundreds of dollars in property damage. It's typically viewed as a nuisance for the Delta Police, who are spread thin annually to cover North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen with just enough officers to keep the damage to a minimum. This alcohol driven rite of passage is viewed as a destructive and costly occurrence that happens yearly that local residents wish would never happen. However this year there was minimal damage, other than a few tags of graffiti on South Delta Secondary. Could it just be for graduates looking to unwind? Their last act of rebellion before piles of homework dictate their lives once more? Let us know what you think in the comments! Will Shelling
