So, join me on my journey, write a novel in 30 days!
End of week 1 start of week 2
You have been working on your novel everyday this week. your characters are developed with attributes and flaws. the seens are set and the plot is going just fine then boom it hits you, writers block.
Weather you are far above or well bellow 11,669 words this evil creature who sits in your brain blocking your ideas will come up at some point.
Here are some ways to beat that moster.
Look at a photo.
a picture is worth a thousand words, just look at 2 and you have your word count for today!
Think of when? and where?
When doing this exersise.
For example if I am writng something about time travel go into google and google: Time Travel if this is not good enough do a more specifique search like: time travel to 2020 or if you are looking for a specifique thing search: futuristic car or house.
look at diffrent photos and see what gets your mind spinning.
2) Watch a movie in your genre, this may help you to move forward and may be just enough umpf to get you to 50,000
3) Read a book or short story.
I would only recommend this if you are a fast reader.
Although reading others writing really helps so maybe pick up a collection of short stories and start reading. perhaps a character a sceen or even one sentence will get you going again.
4) just write.
I know what your reaction will be: "but hayley, but I have writers block, I can't write" well actually you can if you can pick up a pencil or tap your fingers on the keyboard, you can very well write. Maybe you are not in the most creative mood but in reality all writers block is,is not writing. so go one word at a time.
A few letters makes a word.
Afew words makes a sentence .
Afew scentances makes a paragraphs .
A few paragraphs makes a chapter.
And a few chapters makes a book.
So, get out there, write no one may ever see your first draft. I give you permission to write the worst you have ever written, because whith a little bit of time and a lot of effort, that may become the best you have written.
Good luck, see you next week!
Keeping you up to date on all the latest news.
