Today, all grade 10 students in Planning/Planification 10 and grade 11 students in Apprenticeship and Workplace Math 11 went to Sungod to learn about different trades. This event was supported by the Delta School District, the Corporation of Delta, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), Vancouver Community College (VCC) and British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). This event had multiple booths from KPU, BCIT and VCC, all covering different jobs. Representatives explained the many careers and had demonstrations and interactive activities for the students. Mechanical engineering, electrical, cooking, agriculture, horticulture and hairdressing were all covered, as well as many more. This was Delta's first Trade and Technical Career Fair, and hopefully, they will continue so that students can be educated about the numerous professions. Tera Meschino Huge thank you to Hailea Caldwell for the pictures!
Friday, May 3rd, at the Coast Tsawwassen hotel was an art show hosted by South Delta Secondary School. There were dozens of beautiful paintings as well as photographs, and the talent was immense. Mrs. Lymburner presented awards and made a speech congratulating everyone on their contribution and talent and explaining the theme. The theme, Speechless; is to let the art explain itself with out any explanation. If you didn't attend the art show that evening, you still have until May 31st! Caylie Warkentin
